Jean-Paul Léonardi, Vice-President
SCEO and Vice-President of the Board of Directors of Euromed Marseille School of Management
Jean-Paul Léonardi received an Engineering degree from the Ecole d’ingénieurs de Marseille (Civil Engineering, 1967), an M.B.A. from the Kellog School of Management (Northwestern University, 1972) and a Ph.D. in Economics and Business Administration from the University of Aix-Marseille III (1973).
In 1984, at the request of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Grenoble, he created from scratch a brand new Business School known as Grenoble School of Management. As Director General and Dean, he was responsible for all strategic, academic and operational aspects of the School management. In 1995, he started a Masters in International Business degree currently ranked in the top 10 of European Masters by the Financial Times. He also developed the School international reach by extending campuses in China, Morocco, Malta, Moldova and Russia. By January 2002, Grenoble School of Management had received two of the top three international accreditations (EQUIS and AMBA) and was about to be AACSB accredited. Today, Grenoble School of Management is still in the top 6 French Business Schools.
In January 2002, he was called by the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Marseille Provence to take over as CEO and Vice-President of the Board of Directors of Euromed Marseille School of Management. Using his experience of 18 years at the head of Grenoble School of Management, his recognized charisma, leadership, and professional networks, Dr. Léonardi was able to turn the School around in a short time. He positioned the School as a leader in the Euro-Mediterranean world by emphasizing personal development of students, diversity and complexity of cultures and styles, corporate social responsibility and sustainable development. By 2005, Euromed Marseille was EQUIS accredited (the accreditation was renewed in 2008). In 2007, the School became AMBA accredited, ranked 22nd in the FT Masters ranking and 8th in the French national rankings. In 2008, the School is in the final stages of AACSB accreditation. When he took over the School in 2002, the School turnover was 19 M€ for 1,800 students. Six years later, the turnover exceeds 36 M€ (with a net margin of approximately 4 M€) for 3,700 students. The growth in turnover was achieved by increasing the reputation of the School both among students and corporate partners who then increased significantly their financial support to the School.
