1. General product question.

  • Do I need any pre-installed software on my PC to use Dmailer V7?

Yes.

If you want to synchronize your mailer (like Outlook or Outlook Express) you need to have it preinstalled on your main PC.

  • Do I need any pre-installed software on the "host/visiting" PC to use Dmailer V7?

No, Dmailer V7 is completely independent .

It also means that  if you have synchronized Outlook® or Outlook® Express data and use Dmailer V7 on a visiting PC you can send and receive email even Outlook® or Outlook® Express isn’t  preinstalled ! 

  • Can I use Dmailer V7 to synchronize with Netscape, Eudora, Lotus Notes, or AOL Communicator?

No .

Dmailer V7 is compatible with Outlook® and Outlook® Express, in all configurations (pop, Exchange, IMAP)

  • My mobile device is full, and I need to synchronize, what can I do?

You have several options to free some space:

1 - Remove unneeded files from the mobile device .
2 - Change your synchronization “Options” so that your data fit onto your mobile device . Then launch the synchronization process again .
3 - Use the “File” menu to “Reset” Dmailer V7.

This operation will erase your complete existing Dmailer V7 data file.
Launch again Dmailer V7 and follow the setup process.

·         Is Dmailer V7 compatible with Macintosh or Linux platform?

No.

  • What are the system requirements for Dmailer V7?

Hardware:
- mobile device .
- Any Pentium PC with USB support

Software:
- Microsoft Windows 2000, XP Home and Professional, Vista
- Microsoft Outlook 2000, 2002, 2003, 2007
- Microsoft Outlook Express 5 .5 and above
- Microsoft Exchange 5 .5, 2000, 2003, 2007

  • Can I use Dmailer V7 to synchronize two or more computers together?

No .

Dmailer V7 synchronizes your Outlook or Outlook Express data from one PC (your main PC, identified during set up) with your mobile device

  • Can I use Dmailer V7 to synchronize two or more computers with my mobile device?

Yes .

Indeed at the beginning of the set up before the configuration you open a new profile . It allows Dmailer V7 to recognize that the current computer is the main computer.

It means that if you would like to synchronize another computer as the main (e .g . your personal computer) you just have to create another profile .

To do it when you launch Dmailer V7, instead of entering the password, create a new profile .

Then Dmailer V7 will consider that you got two main computers! (e .g . professional/personal)

  • Can I use Dmailer V7 while my Outlook or my Outlook Express is running?

Yes.

  • Synchronization takes a while. Is it normal?

Synchronization speed depends on:
- Your PC USB connection (USB 1.1 is slower 10 times than USB 2.0).
- Your PC performance / capacity.

Please note that Dmailer V7 synchronizes in average 1,000 items per minute with a USB 2 .0 connector, a Pentium IV 2.4Ghz processor and 512 MB of memory . If you are using a VPN connection to an Exchange server, synchronization time will be very slow due to your remote access connection .

  • Can I synchronize my attached files?

Yes.

In order to sync it just select the attachment during the configuration process (mailer settings)

  • When I double click on an attachment or a file, Dmailer V7 ask me to save it instead of opening it? Is it normal?

Yes .


Dmailer V7 opens the attached files (and files) in a temporary files stored on your mobile device . When your mobile device doesn’t have enough memory space available to open the file, Dmailer V7 offers you to save it in a location that you specify .

Regarding the files please note that when you close Dmailer V7 the modified files are loaded to Dmailer V7 and the temporary folder is cleaned

  • Once Dmailer V7 "is opened, I can not edit my "recurring" calendar events. Is it normal?

Dmailer V7 allows you to view and edit all non-recurring calendar events . The current version of Dmailer V7 allows you to view your "recurring" calendar events but not to edit them .

  • I reinstalled (or crashed) my computer, can I back-up my data to the new computer?

Yes*!

To restore your Outlook/Outlook Express data
1 - Click on "Copy to PC" > "Copy Outlook Data"
2 - Select the folder you want to restore (e .g . your inbox) and click on "ok"
Your data are copied into a specific location displayed at the end of the copy process .
It will create a new folder on Outlook (Current PC) called "_copy of Dmailer V7 (date) "

To view those data you should Open Outlook>click on “Go” and select the “Folder List” .

To restore your files (word documents, PDF, etc)
1 - Click on "Copy to PC" > Copy Files»
2 - Select the folder you want to restore (e .g . your image folder and music folder) and click on "ok"
Your data are copied into a specific location displayed at the end of the copy process .

You can also click on "copy in" and choose where you want to copy these files
By default (if you don't use "copy in" feature) It will create a new folder in my documents (Current PC) called "_copy of Dmailer V7 (date)

2 - Confirm that you want to restore it.

  • I can't view my distribution lists when I display my contacts, is it normal?

Yes .

Dmailer V7 allows you to view and edit all your contacts . Your distribution lists are only displayed through the contact picker, so you can add a group of contacts to your outgoing emails .

  • Does Dmailer V7 clean my Internet browser temporary files when I use Dmailer V7?

Yes .
When you use the favorites from Dmailer V7 in a computer that is not yours (none of your profiles has been created in that computers), Dmailer V7 cleans the Internet browser temporary files .

Please note that you can use the “secure browsing” function (click on the 'Favorites' button, then click on 'Activate the secure browsing') . When you activate this feature, your personal favorites from Dmaile V7 are available from your current browser .

Then you can easily and securely use your favourite’s links (Internet Explorer favorites and Firefox bookmarks) from any computer!

All temporary files stored onto your mobile device will be automatically removed when you’ll exit Dmailer V7 .

  • Does Dmailer V7 leave any trace on the visiting PC?

No .
Dmailer V7 is designed to leave no trace on the visiting PC!

  • Does Dmailer V7 synchronize my FireFox bookmarks?

Yes*!

Indeed Dmailer V7 synchronizes all your Firefox bookmarks

* Feature available on Dmailer V7 and above.  

  • Can I use Dmailer V7 as a backup software instead of a synchronization software?

Indeed Dmailer V7 is a backup & synchronization software.

As a backup software it will allow you to restore all your synchronized data to another PC for example on a system crash .

So if you only want to backup your data we highly recommend you to uncheck the "automatic synchronization".

In order to restore your data, you need to follow steps below:

To restore your Outlook/Outlook Express data:
1 - Click on "Copy to PC" > "Copy Outlook Data"
2 - Select the folder you want to restore (e .g . your inbox) and click on "ok"
Your data are copied into a specific location displayed at the end of the copy process .

As synchronization software, Dmailer V7 allows you to keep the same data on your computer and on your external drive . You will be able to work with your data from any computer . When back to your main computer, Dmailer V7 will update your data on it . It will be like you never left .

Please note that Dmailer V7 doesn't install any files or shortcut in your desktop . It runs directly from your flash drive and keeps all its data on it .

If you want to useDmailer V7 you just have to click on the icon located on your mobile device .

  • How do I install Dmailer V7 on my U3 mobile device?

To do so you just need to :
- Download Dmailer V7 U3 version at www.dmailer.org/download/Dmailer.u3p.zip
- Unzip the downloaded file and click on Dmailer V7 icon.

It will install Dmailer V7 automatically on your U3 Mobile Device.

  • Can I use Dmailer V7 to synchronize two or more computers together?

Unfortunately our product is designed to synchronize your data from PCs to your Mobile Device and not two PCs together.

  • Which kind of file extensions Dmailer V7 can synchronize?

Dmailer V7 can synchronize all file extensions if you check the box "All Extension" located on the file option.

  • What do the different categories displayed on the file options panel mean?

Please find below the different categories with their corresponding file extensions:

- DOCUMENTS:
.doc,.dot,.rtf,.txt,.pdf,.docx,.dotx,.mht,.htm,.html,.sdw,.Wpg, .Sdw, .Vor, .Odt, .Sxw, .Ott, .Stw.

Please note that you need to check the box "All Extensions" in order to synchronizes files with extensions not displayed above.

  • What does “Secure Browsing” mean? If I activate Secure Browsing on a public computer how does it secure my browsing?

The "Secure Browsing" option will allow you to browse securely on any PC with your Internet Explorer/Firefox favorites link. Indeed, when you use secure browsing all traces left by IE (cookies, history, temp files...) are stored on your Mobile Device, so you leave no trace on the remote PC.

 

2. Compatibility.

  • What versions of Outlook/Outlook Express does Dmailer V7 work with?

Dmailer V7 is FULLY compatible with:
Microsoft Outlook 2000, 2002, 2003, 2007
Microsoft Outlook Express 5 .5 and above.
Microsoft Exchange® 5 .5, 2000 and 2003.
Windows Mail.

  • What are the compatible Operating Systems Dmailer V7 works with?

Microsoft Windows 2000, XP Home edition, and XP Professional edition, Vista

  • Can I synchronize the "Public Folders" from an Exchange server?

Yes but please note: this action is not recommended.This operation could be very lengthy dependant of the size of your “Public Folders”.

  • Can I synchronize with Outlook using a VPN connection?

Yes but please note: this action is not recommended.
If you are using a VPN connection to an Exchange server, synchronization speed will be very slow due to your remote access connection.

  • Can I synchronize with an Exchange configuration when I am offline?

Yes.
Make sure your Exchange server “cache mode” is activated.

  • Can I synchronize my files from my main PC?

Yes*.
You can synchronize ALL your files from your main PC as well documents as videos, photos, music…

* Feature not available on version 1 & 2

  • Can I use Dmailer V7 at word even if I haven't administrator privilege?

Yes .
Dmailer V7 doesn't require any administrator privilege . You can use it as well as at home!

3. Password and Security:

  • Do I have to create a password?

Yes .
Please Note that Dmailer V7 doesn’t valid empty passwords .

  • Do I have to enter a hint with my password?

No but it is recommended.

This hint will help you to remember your password in case you forget it.

  • I forgot my password. What do I do now?

When you launch Dmailer V7, please read the hint displayed to help you remembering your password.
If you still don't remember your password, click on “Forgot my password”. Dmailer V7 will be reset.

Please note that all your Dmailer V7 data synchronized on your mobile device will then be lost.

You can retrieve your data by synchronizing again.

  • How do I change my password on Dmailer V7?

Use the dedicated menu . Under the “File” menu use the sub-menu “Change Password” and follow directions.

  • If the “host/visiting” PC got an Outlook/Outlook Express profile set-up, do I risk loosing my Dmailer V7 data?

No .

Dmailer V7 is locked on the main PC and does synchronize only when plugged to it .

You can safely check and edit your Dmailer V7 data from any other PC . Dmailer V7 will not synchronize nor transfer any data.

  • If the “host/visiting” PC got an Outlook/Outlook Express profile set-up, do I risk leaving any trace of my data on the “host/visiting” PC?

No .
Dmailer V7 is locked on the main PC and does synchronize only when plugged to it .
If you plug your key to a host/visiting PC, Dmailer V7 doesn’t write any data in this PC .

4. How to?

  • How do I install Dmailer V7 on my standard mobile device?

Dmailer V7 doesn't install any component in your computer. All you have to do is launch the application from your mobile device and start using Dmailer V7.

  • How do I install Dmailer V7 on my U3 mobile device?

If you are using a U3 mobile device you can use a DmailerS V7 U3 compatible version available at www.dmailer.org/download/Dmailer V7.u3p.zip

When Dmailer V7 U3 package downloaded open it and launch the file Dmailer V7 U3 Edition .exe and follow the install process.

You’re done!

  • How do I erase the content of Dmailer V7?

Use the dedicated menu: click on “File” then “Reset”.

  • How do I update my Dmailer V7 version?

Use the dedicated menu: click on “?” then “Update”.

  • How do I recover from a lost password?

For some obvious security reasons, we prevent users from recovering data stored on their mobile device if they loose their password .

If you have lost your password, click on “Forgot my password” and Dmailer V7 will be reset . You now will have to launch Dmailer V7 and to synchronize your data again .

  • How do I change my main PC (the PC to synchronize)?

Reset your Dmailer V7 using the dedicated menu: click on “File” then “Reset” .
Or create a new profil!

  • How can I check/uncheck folder or sub-folders in the “Advanced Options” panel?

1 - Select the folder you want to select.
2 - Right click on it with your mouse.
3 - Select either "Check only this folder" or "Uncheck only this folder".

  • How do I send an email?

Simply, create the email to be sent and click on ‘Send’ Button

In order to send an email, simply enter your sender address and name and click on OK .
Dmailer V7 will then use its embedded SMTP server . It supports encrypted connections if supported by your SMTP server .

In order to send email without entering everytime your name and SMTP server you can even configure your outgoing email settings before sending email.

In order to do it please follow steps below:
1 - Click on Option > Outgoing email settings through the menu
2 - Enter your name and email .
Advanced user tips: If you know your SMTP server address with or without authentication, use the "Advanced Settings" button to enter these information.

*) A server that support SMTP (Simple Mail Transfer Protocol) protocol. It's a TCP/IP protocol used in sending and receiving e-mail.

  • How do I send all my outbox emails?

To send all your outbox emails select the outbox in the folder list and click on the button 'Send All'.

  • How do I receive my emails into my mobile device with Dmailer V7?

To receive emails from your pop accounts directly into your mobile device you have to configure your Incoming emails settings by doing following steps:

1 - Click on option > incoming emails settings through the menu .
2 - Click on Add
3 - Enter your data
Account name : e .g . Personal
Incoming mail server : e .g . pop .something .com (Provided by your ISP - Internet Service Provider )
User name : the name used before @ on your email
Password: the password used to open your email account .
4 - Click on ok and click on receive email .

Advanced user tips:

You can add several email accounts . You should have as many folders as email accounts . It’ll be easier for you to find an email quickly .

To create a new folder on the inbox select the inbox and right click on new folder and name the folder .
To target emails received to this folder when you configure your email setting as it related above:
1 - Click on advanced setting
2 - Click on browse
3 - Select the folder

Please note that Dmailer V7 allows you to receive your emails from your POP accounts ONLY and is not compatible with other protocols (IMAP, Exchange, etc .) .

  • How do I add a file to Dmailer V7 when using Dmailer V7 in a visiting PC?

First click on 'My Documents' button, then click on the 'Add' button and select the file you want to add to Voyager™ Plus.

  • How do I securely surf the internet?

Simply activate the “Secure Browsing” option .
To do so:
1 - Click on the "Favorite" button
2 - Click on "Activate Secure Browsing" .

  • How do I restore my data to another PC?

The restore/copy features allows you to restore all your data synchronized to another PC if for example you crash the first one.

In order to use this feature please follow these steps:

1 - Click on "Copy to PC" > "Copy Outlook Data"
2 - Select the folder you want to restore (e .g . your inbox) and click on "ok"
Your data is into copied into a specific location displayed at the end of the copy process .
It will create a new folder on Outlook/Outlook Express or Windows Mail (Current PC) called "_copy of Dmailer.

To view the restore folder:
- Outlook : Open Outlook (current computer) >Click on "Go" and select "Folder list",
- Outlook Express: Open Outlook Express and see the restored folder on the left (next to your mail box),
- Windows Mail: Open Windows Mail.

  • How to get an old version of Dmailer V7?

You can get an old version of Dmailer V7 at http://www.dmailer.com/site/support/old_versions.html.

  • How to synchronize PCs with Dmailer V7 on my Mobile Device?

When you launch Dmailer V7, instead of opening your profile you need to click on "new profile". This allows Dmailer V7 to recognize that the current computer is the main computer.

It means that if you would like to synchronize another computer as the main (e .g . your personal computer) you just have to create another profile.

To do so you need first plug your Mobile Device into your PC1 and launch Dmailer V7 to set the PC1 profile:
- Name your profile (e.g. PC1 profile)
- Set the Outlook Data you will synchronize
- Set what kind of documents you will synchronize
- Set all other data and click on "ok"
Then the first synchronization will bring all your data (selected) and place it onto your Mobile Device.

Afterwards, unplug your device, plug it into PC2 and launch Dmailer V7.
Instead of logging into your PC1 profile click on the "new profile" button and select the PC2 profile (as you did with the first).

Using this process, you can syncrhonize data from two separate PCs with Dmailer V7.

  • How to merge Dmailer V7 restored folder with my outlook default item?

You can merge Dmailer V7 restored folder with your outlook default item by doing following steps:
For your calendar:
- Open Outlook
- Click on Calendar
- Select Dmailer V7 Calendar
- Click on "View">"Range by">"Category"
(now all your appointments are arranged by category and you can select them to move from one folder to the another)
- Click on "Edit" and select "Move to Folder" and select the Outlook Calendar by default.

You can do the same thing with your contact, email, notes, etc...

  • How to save a synchronized file modified on a remote computer from Dmailer V7?

When you modify a document from Dmailer V7 while you are working on a remote computer, you just need to click on ‘Save’ (as you do on your computer) and Dmailer V7 will correctly update it on its database when you close it.

  • How do I recover my lost password? How do I find my licence if I lost it?

You just need to type the email address you entered during your PURCHASE ORDER at http://www.dmailer.com/client/contact.jsp and we will automatically send you back your login and licence.

  • How to view my email in HTML format?

To do so you just need to click on the "view in HTML" button located on your email windows when you'll open it.


5. ERRORS.

  • I get the error message "Ordinal 136 could not be located in the Dynamic Link Library Mapi32.dll" ?

This error is related to a conflict between Outlook and Eudora.

Solution: Disable Eudora's MAPI service.
Step 1: Open Eudora.
Step 2: From the "tools" menu, select "Options".

Step3: Click on MAPI in the scrolling category list.

Step 4: Under "use Eudora MAPI server", check the option "Never".
Step 5: Click OK.
Step 6: Exit Eudora and restart Outlook® .
Step 7: Set your outlook as your default mail client. (See the previous note).

  • Interface displays without its icons and text?

You probably use "VirusScan Enterprise 8.0i".

Solution: Contact McAfee support on http://ts.mcafeehelp.com. They’ll give you an Install patch to resolve it.

  • I get an error while restoring my files into "My Documents"?

This error occurs if you restore your data into "My Documents" because the path could be too long.

Solution: Use the option "Restore in" and select a short destination path.

  • When I run Dmailer V7 in my main computer I get the message "MAPI catastrophic failure"?

This error occurs when you use BCM (Business Contact Manager) . This message is displayed by BCM when Dmailer V7 accesses its information .

Solution: The problem doesn't occur if you are using Outlook and Dmailer V7 at the same time .

  • I get the error 0x40400001 message what I have to do?

If you get this error 0x40400001 message:

“Dmailer V7 could not fully synchronize your data Dmailer V7 could not access to your external device . Your external device may be full or disconnected . Please check if your external device is well connected, verify Dmailer V7 synchronization settings and try to synchronize again .”

Please check following points before contact us:

- If you're using a cable extension in order to connect your mobile device please plug it directly to your computer and launch the application .
- Check if you have enough space on your mobile device .
- Reset your data and sync again .

  • During the synchronization settings I get the 0x20010031 message what I have to do?

If during the synchronization setting you got the following message:
"Dmailer V7 could not connect to Outlook®."
you need to set Outlook as your default email client.
To do so you need to :
launch Internet Explorer,
click on Tools > Internet Options>Programs,
and select Outlook® in the 'Email' section.
