Data Loss

  • 1. I lost my data after formatting my PC and synchronize !
  • Firstly, please be sure to not write anything to the drive where your “Data” folder (E.g. “DmailerData”) was stored (normally at the root folder of your external drive).

    Then follow these steps :
    - You will need your profile password, all your Dmailer files (.dml), your Option file (.option), as your database file (.db).
Use one of the following undelete software’s in order to recover the needed files (on your external drive):
    http://www.winundelete.com/?rid=google&kid=wu0406
    http://www.recovermyfiles.com/
    http://www.ontrack.com/software/

    - Once you've recovered all of your “Data” folder (E.g. “DmailerData”), we suggest you to try to open your profile copying your entire recovered profile data (.dml, .option and .db files) in "Drive_letter/DmailerData/Your_profile_name".
Note: If you have a U3 device you will find you profile folder under:"Drive_letter/Documents/DmailerData/Your_profile_name".

    - If this doesn't work, you can try to use our little recovery tool that will decrypt your files.
Download the recovery tool following this link:
    http://www.dmailer.org/download/DataRecoveryTool.zip

    - When you have downloaded it, here are the steps to use it:
    1. Launch it and go to "Profiles->Scan directory".
    2. Select your "DmailerData" folder containing your synchronized data. You should see all your profiles being listed.
    3. Select the profile you wish to synchronize and click "Save All To".
    4. Choose the destination folder. All your files from your profile will be recovered in his directory.

Please note that this tool is not able to recover file names; you will need to rename your files manually.
Please note that the recovery tool doesn't restore the files name and may not be able to recover all your files.

If you have some .unknown files, you can however try different extensions. For example, if you know you had a 3 GB xxxx.pst file in your profile before, and that you have a 3GB xxxx.unknown file after the recover, you can try to rename it in a xxxx.pst.
